 Who We Are | Powur

The U.S. residential electricity sector is made up of more than 110 million customers. In 2005, they consumed roughly 1,364 TWh (1) of electricity at a cost of $128 billion. U.S. demand is expected to increase an additional 50% by the year 2030. With projected U.S. demand and additional global energy pressures, the forecasted 347 gigawatts of new capacity will likely come from coal-fired and natural gas-fired plants – the U.S. DOE foresees 90%.

The Citizen Corporation understands that continued dependence upon depleting fuel supplies will systematically increase prices and intensify price volatility. In response, Citizen is intent on delivering photovoltaic (“PV”) power to the residential sector to help offset price increases and volatility caused by supply disruptions, diminishing fuel stock, and tightening production.

The issue at hand is that connecting with some 110 million U.S. residential customers in geographically dispersed and climatically divergent regions will present a distinctive challenge. A disruptive technology like PV requires simplicity in its sales message, and benefits greatly from direct and continued communication; yet, such a disparate consumer base also demands personalization. That is why a network of direct selling agents is truly the only effective method of reaching the residential market in the limited time that we have to do so.

Thus, Citizen has created the Citizen Powur division. Powur is a direct selling organization charged with attracting residential electricity consumers to the renewable energy space – specifically to our PV offering. How we go about doing this is by directly communicating to the public the benefits, advantages, and need for PV; we then make it possible for consumers to adopt PV technology in a simple, investment-free way. No other program makes it so easy. Through our network of independent sales associates, Citizen is empowering itself to reach a huge market rapidly and effectively.

It is a perfect time to be involved in the renewable energy space – especially the PV industry. The cost of oil and natural gas continues to rise. Emissions are destabilizing the climate. Vulnerability of legacy infrastructure undermines security. And the threat of an industrialized China and India looming ahead magnifies these already existing problems. The need to adopt renewable energy has never been more apparent. Citizen understands this, it has positioned PV to be instrumental in modernizing the global energy infrastructure and increasing global energy supplies, and it has created the Citizen Powur division to ensure that residential customers are afforded the opportunity to take advantage of PV technology.

 What We Do | REnU

The Citizen Corporation is making renewable energy cost competitive with today’s electricity rates. Moreover, with a fixed cost of electricity, Citizen’s offering is not just cost competitive, it is also financially profitable. This makes participating in the Citizen REnU program a financially sensible choice.

The Citizen REnU program is the first to give residential customers the chance to use green energy in their home without the usual dilemma. A photovoltaic (“PV”) array, inverters, and an exchange point (“XP”) are prepackaged to deliver energy to the customer or the utility from power generated at the home. Our new program takes care of all the usual headaches: it provides hassle free installation, operation, and maintenance – and does so with the most attractive terms in the industry. Customers have the option to rent the system for either 1, 5 or 25 years. This arrangement eliminates the traditional up-front investment and associated investment risk. With all of the customary barriers removed, customers can get down to the bottom-line choice of do they want more renewable energy, do they want more reliability, and do they want more responsiveness.

With the convenience of net-metering, customers have the chance to adopt while still having the additional reliability of the grid. Our well-engineered systems are designed to interact with the local utility to reduce system strain, defer network upgrades, and create redundancy of grid supply to enhance overall distribution reliability. This enhanced relationship is a win-win situation for the customer and the traditional utility.

That being said, net-metering does have its limitations. Most states place a cap on the amount of customers that the local utility has to allow into the grid. And the buy-back agreement for power generated in excess of the customer’s usage is typically unprofitable. Therefore, Citizen will offer variations (see Grid-Paralleled and Grid-Separated) of the REnU program so that the number of people who wish to enjoy the benefits of green energy can do so.

The Citizen Corporation is revolutionizing the way people include PV in their day-to-day routine. Citizen Powur is the tool that is delivering PV to the residential market. Together, we are at the forefront of an epoch that is making electricity delivery more reliable, more responsive, and obviously more renewable.

 How We Do It

Several studies show that an overwhelming majority of residential consumers possess a predisposition towards grid-connected photovoltaic (“GPV”) systems. Roughly, 75% exhibit a willingness to pay a premium for PV-generated electricity; and 70% state a likelihood of purchasing a no-added cost GPV system. From a general renewable standpoint, 71% of the U.S. market remarkably favors requiring power companies to generate at least 20% of their electricity from alternative renewable energy sources. It is clear that the market size of ‘near-term’ purchasers – those representing the highest likelihood of a near-term purchase, given system availability – is sizeable.

After much research and scrutiny, it was determined that approximately 2.3 to 3.9 percent of the U.S. residential electricity sector – having a residence properly oriented and sharing a consistent trait of self-reliance – can be considered near-term adopters of PV. On the low side, this makes Citizen’s immediate and readily identifiable market equal to roughly 2.8 million residential consumers. What is unknown about this market is the speed at which it will grow based on the fact that the Citizen REnU offering requires no investment risk and is at price parity with utility power. The market size is likely to grow far beyond its initial measurement and well beyond the net-metering caps currently limiting its growth.

Sales associates of the Citizen Powur division are charged with reaching out to these consumers, educating them, and giving them the opportunity to buy into renewable energy.

In return for this effort, Citizen will compensate sales associates handsomely for successfully attracting consumers to the REnU offering. We will do this through long-term residual income and bonuses. Citizen believes this is an opportune time for sales professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals – who have the desire to change the way we generate electricity, depend on foreign fuels, and interact with the environment – to get involved and begin securing a future income simply for the act of making a difference.

We invite you to review our proposal – as described in the following links, and to make the choice to represent the Citizen Corporation to the residential market.
